PTE stands for Pearson Test of English. It is a computer-based English language proficiency test that is designed to assess the English language skills of non-native English speakers. Test-takers’ English reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills are measured. Universities, colleges, governments, and other groups worldwide agree that the PTE is a valid and reliable way to measure how well someone speaks English. The test is graded by a computer system, ensuring fairness and consistency. Pearson, a leading global education company, owns and administers the PTE.
